OUR KULEANA: COMBATING COVID ON HAWAI'I ISLAND
Protecting the health of our community is a shared responsibility: Our Kuleana
Our privilege to be a part of this island’s ʻohana comes with an inherent kuleana, or duty, to our people and place. The devastating impacts of COVID-19 have presented an opportunity for us to fulfill our kuleana to protect and care for each other. Our Kuleana is a community-based effort to mobilize Hawaiʻi Island residents to take protective actions to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The campaign has engaged notable residents, community and civic leaders, and businesses in sharing messages of prevention and encouraging important practices to stop the spread of the virus. Our Kuleana has produced signage, public service announcements, videos, and even a song by the Alohaland Collective – a group of award-winning and up-and-coming Hawaiʻi Island musicians joining together to spread the message of Our Kuleana.
