Still Hard At Work

March 22, 2017

We were privileged to sit down with Dr. Kimo Alameda, Hawaii County Executive on Aging. We filmed two segments for his show on Na Leo TV (Public Access). First Dr. Mike Sayama, PhD., Executive Director of Community First, discussed the broad range of issues facing health care payment and delivery as well as how the "social determinants" of health have come back to the forefront. Second, Chris Ridley, Director of Social Services at Life Care Center of Hilo and Tony Kent, Community Engagement Coordinator at Community First spoke about the importance of Advance Health Care Directives to all adults in our community. They also invited the public to attend our free classes hosted at the ADRC.

The Advance Care Planning Committee is still hard at work creating more engaging presentations and exploring more ways to interact with the community. The bi-monthly Advance Health Care Directive classes have been successful. Thanks to our collaboration with the County of Hawaii Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC), dozens of new community members have finished their advance health care directives.
